The Gate of Light, formerly the Kingdom of Khudat, emerged as a sovereign state in the mid-7650s. Historically, this nation predominantly followed Akchacknism until a significant shift occurred following the second Wolgos trek, which deposited a large community of Wolgos on Khudat. This change catalysed the rise of the Cult of the Inner Light across the island.

In 7622, a charismatic figure known as Alinyoun taquu (The Radiant One), originally Lughos H2regsunsunus, came to prominence. A handsome, young Wolgos man, he was well-known in the coastal communities as a wanderer who lived simply, often found contemplating nature and the cosmos, reciting his own mantras in serene settings such as caves, under trees, or by the beach's palm shadows. Initially, his following consisted of a small group of Khudat Ewora and Wolgos women who became his disciples and companions. Over time, his following expanded as more Wolgos and Erowa joined, attracted by his teachings.

A cult soon formed around Alinyoun taquu, establishing villages in the coastal hills dedicated to primitivist living, free love, and the exploration and control of one's animalistic instincts through meditation and mantras. The cult's growth throughout the kingdom was accelerated by its practices of free love, which reportedly included the persuasive use of Wolgos saliva.

The transformation of the kingdom into the Gate of Light occurred in 7657 when Queen Chaikun IV converted to the cult, bringing the royal family into the fold. Subsequently, the kingdom was restructured to adhere to the cult's precepts, with the queen assuming the role of protector of the faith and consort to Alinyoun taquu.

Today, the kingdom is led by King Minthari II, a young ruler from the cult. The cult has remained influential even after the death of Alinyoun taquu in 7681. His son, Ayeip yanthu, now leads the cult and serves as a close friend and advisor to King Minthari II. The was persuaded to join joined the Umbral Covenant to safeguard itself against Kamuran influence by Wolgos residents fearing for their safety and status. Despite deviating from traditional Dlroch'veldr practices, Hergom has accepted the kingdom, aiming to protect the significant Wolgos community and its allies. Under Hergom's protection, the Cult of the Inner Light has even spread beyond the kingdom's borders to other communities in Raia and Hergom itself.

Politics

The Government of the Gate of Light calls itself an enlightened monarchy, serving the people spiritually and materially as the nexus between the celestial and the earthly. It believes it is bringing forth the light of prosperity and spiritual uplifting to its subjects. The government sees itself as the master guiding the people on their path towards exaltation and enlightenment, working to transform the way of life to facilitate the doctrines of the Inner Light cult.

Many changes have occurred in the last four decades. All villages have been reorganized into "communes of contemplation" where peasants are directed by "enlightened master explorers of the inner light" to fulfill the material needs of the nation and guide the peasants in their meditations, contemplations, and testing of their physical and spiritual elements to achieve progress on their own paths. Cities have been transformed into centers of high inner light exploration and exaltation, becoming giant temples and communes designed to serve the communal needs of the people and their spirits.

Deep social changes are promoted by the administration, encouraging transcendental social relationships of friendship, free love, sensuality, and peaceful coexistence. The administration seeks out those it considers plagued with negative emotions, aiming to help them purify their souls of emotions and feelings that may disrupt their path and that of the community as a whole. Violence, hate, and discord are given controlled avenues for release through ritualized events and deep contemplation of creation.

King Minthari II is the head of the government, while his advisor and friend, the Wolgos Ayeip Yanthu, heads the faith in the Gate of Light. Minthari II himself strives to be a paragon of the faith and leads by example with close tutelage by Ayeip Yanthu. The administration is completely composed of "master explorers of the inner light," a group of around a hundred Khudati and Wolgos followers of the cult considered to have achieved deep progress on their path.

Forces opposing the transformation of the Kingdom of Khudat into Gate of Light have gathered themselves in a government-in-exile, currently residing in Kotah Ek, Sokoku. This government still marginally controls some areas of Khudat, where Gate of Light has poor coverage and support.

International Relations

• Hergom ep swekorwos: Hergom is a staunch supporter of the Gate of Light regime. It promotes the right of the Gate of Light to exist and praises the nation for making great strides in Human-Wolgos relations, showing the world a new way of coexistence and cooperation while recognizing the Wolgos' special uniqueness and place in the world. Hergom applauds the Gate of Light for providing refuge to thousands of Wolgos who had long ago become detached from their community. Hergom aggressively assists the kingdom with military aid and assistance. It also promotes deep economic ties between Hergom and the Gate of Light.
