Erecund is a religion based around one mayor god and eight spirits prodominant in Nestor and the Ekhijal sea region. The religion is based around eight morals who are derived from the eight months of the year and one gate keeper of the soul. The god of the soul, creates, judges and destroys souls. The god of the soul created the world of mortals to test the souls it created. The souls who deemed as good are entering the spiritual world of the god of the soul and the souls that are deemed bad destroyed.

History

Spread of Erecund

Erecund is an old religion in modern day Atregona on the east of Anaria Mayor. The religion spread all over the continent with help from the XX empire. The empire was known for its seafaring people who brought the religion mant other places including to Nestor where the Erinic Empire was created with the Erecund religion at its core.

Erecund - Orkanan conflict

In Stoldavia, the Orkanan religion came into conflict the Erecund people's in Anaria mayor. The Erecund of XX got pushed further south and east with Atregionia protected by the moutains and Nestor protected by the Straights of Stelneck.

Modern day

In the modern day the religion has af view nations mostly in the east of Anaria Mayor holding on to the religion. The most notible Erecund nation today is Nestor, the successor of the Erinic Empire and Atregonia, the origin of the religion.

Logo

The god of the soul is depicted in the Erecund symbol by the central star which is surrounded by eight points which depict the eight spirits. The circle around the symbol shows the barrier between the world of the spirts, the gods and the world of the mortals.

Soul Stone Example

Soulstone

Another symbol originating from Nestor is the soulstone. The soulstone is glass round marble with intricate details inside them, often with special colors and shapes. When a person is in their late teens, they buy one in a special shop. The soulstone is representation of ones soul and it is cared for very deeply. When the person marries they give the soul stone to their husband or wife symbolizing their trust in this person. When the person dies, the stones are carried by the children and grandchildren. When a person dies, the body is the ashes are gray showing that there should be not put too much value put on someones body but more into their soul. The beautiful colorful marble is a symbol for that. When people die and it's not known who they are or who their family is, they make sure the soulstone is found and put in special memorials where they still can be remembered regardless of people knowing their name. The beautiful colorful marble is a symbol for that. There are many thousands of these soulstones made each year and the ones that are not bought are used as decorations in religious building.

The afterlife and the judgment process are significant aspects of Erecund spirituality.

Eight Guiding Spirits

The Erecund pantheon comprises eight guiding spirits, each symbolizing specific aspects of the human mind and offering guidance for self-improvement.

1. Humiltatea, the spirit of Humility, who teaches mortals the importance of modesty and self-awareness.
2. Aitortza, the spirit of Gratitude, who encourages people to appreciate and acknowledge the blessings in their lives.
3. Indartsua, the spirit of Courage, who inspires bravery in the face of adversity and fear.
4. Justizia, the spirit of Justice, who upholds fairness, equity, and the rule of law.
5. Bikotea, the spirit of Generosity, who advocates for acts of kindness and charity towards others.
6. Diziplina, the spirit of Discipline, who teaches the value of self-control, focus, and dedication.
7. Fedea, the spirit of Faith, who promotes trust, belief, and unwavering confidence in oneself and in others.
8. Maitaiaza, the spirit of Love, who teaches the value of love and devotion.

These gods serve as moral and psychological compasses for followers, helping them navigate life's challenges and cultivate virtues. The stories and teachings associated with these gods likely serve as parables and allegories, imparting valuable lessons to the faithful.

Faith, Hope, and Prayer

These three pillars—faith, hope, and prayer—form the foundation of Erecund spirituality. Faith in the gods helps followers build resilience and maintain a positive outlook in the face of adversity. Hope is instilled through the belief in the afterlife, offering a sense of purpose and motivation to live virtuously. Prayer is the means through which followers express their devotion, seek guidance, and offer gratitude to the gods.

In Erecund, the afterlife holds profound significance. It is seen as a realm of reward and spiritual growth, accessible to those who have lived virtuous lives and passed the judgment of the god of the soul. This next universe is a paradise-like realm where the righteous continue to evolve spiritually, striving for enlightenment and transcendence. The afterlife serves as a beacon of hope for adherents, encouraging them to lead moral and virtuous lives.

Holy objects

Limestone tablets

The oldest record of the Erecund can be found northern Atregonia. In the ancient annals of the Erecund religion, it is told that the original "Trumoi Tableta" was a magnificent, awe-inspiring limestone tablet, forged by the spirits themselves through the elemental power of thunder. Each of the eight spirits, etched their divine teachings onto the colossal tablet in a display of celestial craftsmanship that shook the earth and lit up the skies.

According to the sacred texts, the creation of the original tablet was a celestial event witnessed by the early followers of Erecund. Thunderbolts, each imbued with the essence of a different spirit, struck the limestone tablet, chiseling their teachings into the stone in a radiant display of power. The vibrations from this divine spectacle resonated throughout the land, leaving an indelible mark on the collective consciousness of the people.

Over the centuries, as the religion spread and the followers of the faith grew in number, the original Trumoi Tableta faced several challenges that ultimately led to its division into three smaller tablets. The sheer size of the original tablet made it difficult to protect from the elements and the wars of the time. As the faithful sought to preserve the teachings of the spirits for future generations, they realized that breaking the tablet into smaller, more manageable pieces would help safeguard the wisdom contained within. The three pieces made it easier to transport and protect. The tablets have been moved on multiple occasions during the Orkanan - Erecund wars. The tablets were for a moment held in Nestor but for the longest time in Atregionia. Today, the tablets have been forged together triangular stone. This stone is now placed in the grand Erecund palace in Atregonia. The three forged tablets are now also seen as a symbol of unification under Erecund.

Holy book

The holy book of Erecund is the Iparra Izenaia (Northern Sarcred Writings in Atregonian) or in Nestor the book is referrd to as the Ipar Zeniar. This book is a collection of stories of mayor and minor spirits to teach important lessons on how to follow their respective virtue. The book also contains a the 24 rules of life spread over three pages referencing the three holy limestone tablets of Erecund.

Rituals

Sound of wisdom

The Sound of Wisdom ritual originated from the kingdom of Jung and it is popular in Nestor. The ritual is done is done in complete silence and people dance to a from of sign language telling a the story of the spirit of woods and nature.
