Exemplar Gacha is a Mellanhand Orkanan exemplar registered in 7578 at Herrkulla and 7580 at Grönkulla by representatives of the Fjällsta Stift. Gacha, whose family name is unknown, lived from about 7096 to 7184 on present day Kakurishima (Carlsö), Mirei, Sokoku. He is generally considered of the founding father of the Kakuri community who partially converted to Mellanhand Orkanan in the 7570's. He was born as lower administrative nobility in the Tsuki Integrality, survived the Julian Event on the island and formulated the basis for society for the few remaining Tsuki on the island into the Kakuri society. He was himself not Orkanan, but his biography still was deemed exemplary enough for registration.
At the time of registration, it was highly controversial and mainly seen as a political move to integrate the Kakuri community into the state of Vittmark, not in the least due to the strong personal ties between the royal family of Vittmark and the Kakuri leadership. But later studies of his biography and Kakuri culture have led to a more moderate view, where his achievements in saving the written version of the Kakuri language, his leadership during a time of crisis and his basic lay-out for Kakuri society and its only settlement Toshi-bu have been interpreted as valuable contributions to the realisation of Vind's Master Plan. The fact that the Kakuri played a role in the formation of Sokoku in a way that safeguarded the presence of Orkanan within that nation has been used as some form of confirmation in hindsight that the founder of the Kakuri society unknowingly played a role in the establishment of Orkanan in the region.
As good as nothing is known about his private live, his parents are unknown and in his biography there is no talk of a spouse nor off-spring. The biography starts at the Julian Event, where Gacha survives the tsunami by clinging on to a rock with one hand while with the other preventing a girl or young woman from being dragged back into the sea. The biography ends with the foundation of the Kuru as guardians of his legacy and work at his funeral ritual. Up to today, the local Kakuri police force is still called Gacha Kuru and as such a direct continuation of this institute.
Gacha's biography has been translated into 32 languages and at least 3 movie picture adaptations have been made. The popular Sokokan TV-series "Under His Shadow" is a spin-off of the latest movie from 7685, now entering its 7th season. It is set in the 7180's in a fictional Kakuri community with strong Tsuki roots. But in Mellanhand Orkanan, he is generally considered a fringe exemplar with a very local following in Sokoku.
Biography
Ex. Gacha was born as Chikara in 7105 or 7106 RH. His exact birthdate cannot be pinpointed since the Kakuri have started using his birthday as the start of the new year. The Kakuri calendar is divided into half solar years, so his birthday could have occurred around December 22nd, 7105, or June 20th, 7106. He later earned the name "Strong Fingers" (Gacha Pin) after being rescued from an overhanging cliff at age 13.
Gacha was later selected for training towards a governmental or leadership role for the Kakuri people. The exact years of his involvement in the local leadership of what is now Gilles Carls and the broader Kakuri civilization are unknown. His biography suggests a much larger zone of influence for the Kakuri civilization during his time, though the exact extent is unclear.
A catastrophic event led to the decline of the Kakuri civilization in much of the Julian Sea region. Current interpretations of his biographical accounts indicate that Gacha emphasized roleplay, plays, and music to cope with the new reality. He laid the foundation for the culturally based leadership of the Kakuri people as it is known today. Ex. Gacha held the title "Tensho," which literally means "Book and Landscape" in the Kakuri language but is used figuratively to describe an inspirational leader with strong connections to the spirits of the ancestors.
Ex. Gacha died on or around July 24th, 7184, at the age of 88. His death was registered by his successor, Tensho Aio.
Registration
Ex. Gacha's first registration was done at Herrkulla by Kirisaki Koga of the Nokumo Nobono on June 15th, 7577, with Crown Princess Moa Palnesdotter av Blåkulla as witness. The second registration took place at Grönkulla by Nenne Juku of the Nokumo Nobono on June 18th, 7577, with Palne Kristersson av Blåkullaas witness.
Controversy
The registration of Ex. Gacha was surrounded by controversy. Purists argue that anyone not following Orkanan should never be registered as an exemplar. Additionally, many doubt whether the Kakuri are Orkanan at all. Their registries have been entered into Fjällsta Stift, but many saw this as more of a political gesture than a true registration of Mellanhand Orkanans. Having an exemplar registered is viewed as a way to add a hint of religious content to the political goals of Fjällsta Stift.
Queen Anna herself accepted Ex. Gacha, stating that the application was made by a person who could be considered a first within her administration and had taken the pilgrim's route to the shrine at Herrkulla. The registrar at Grönkulla, Alf Salvesson, stated that Orkanan is a process and not a fixed status, and deemed the applicants Orkanan enough to register a local exemplar.
