Cydhlig Orkana
Cydhlig Orkana or Gutlic Orkanan (Awenydd: Cydhlig Orcana) is an interventionist branch of Orkanan practiced primarily in northern Thultannia by speakers of Cydhlig languages. It is the primary religion in Einhafan, practiced alongside non-denominational Orkanan. Cydhlig Orkana is closely related to Mellanhand and other interventionist branches of Orkanan. The main differences between Cydhlig Orkana and Mellanhand are the practical organization of the denomination and some of the myths that have been incorporated into mainstream Cydhlig Orkana over the past 400 years.
The denomination was founded in 7044 by the Noble Confederation of Einhafan and Iseldir as an attempt to counter the rise of the Greater Stoldavic Empire in Stoldavia and northeastern Thultannia (current-day Halland). From its inception until the Second Civil War in Einhafan, the leader of the religion was appointed by the council of the confederation. Since then, the head of the religion has been appointed by regional religious leaders. These regional leaders promote and speak for the faith in their own geographical area, called an escabaedd (pronounced "es-ka-buyth"), which is equivalent to a socken in other branches of Orkanan.
Orkanan is considered a way of life for most of the rural population, who believe that humans were put on Gotha by Vind to protect the planet by actively safeguarding the balance of nature.
Mythology
Dyddiwedd ("End of the World Myth") is a relatively recent Cydhlig Orkana myth predicting that the end of the world will be brought about by a currently unknown future technology. Early industrialization and increased pollution led to a rise in this belief, and it has since been popularized in Awenydd literature. In fictional accounts of Dyddiwedd, the world is destroyed by various means: the testing of a chronomobile (time machine), an army of steam-powered metal men, or a powerful magnet causing Gotha's arc to fall down.
