Ásgeirr av Gjallarbrú was the third Fører of the Technate of Aedeland.

Early life

Ásgeirr av Gjallarbrú was born in 7556 in Vintersæte, Háraland, to Ljútríðr (nee av Ambrodring), a doctor, and Gímarr av Gjallarbrú (7526-7618), a farmer, merchant, and civil servant. The Gjallarbrú were members of the lesser nobility who controlled the critical pass at the upper course of the Forheksede river connecting the Skjolda peninsula and the Aryas region. Ásgeirr's father, the second of six sons, travelled extensively working briefly as a prospector in Cykeria, farming in Háraland, and working as an agent of the Imperial Sørtarnland Company in Achilleion. Ásgeirr's uncle, Lúðvíkr (7536-7607), was a highly decorated Væringet commander in the Austland/West Hagen Civil War. Ásgeirr's mother, one of the very few women physicians practicing in Republican Aedeland, was the sister of Vilhelm av Ambrodring (7528-7615).

Military Service

Ásgeirr joined the Engineer Regiment of the Væringet in 7573 and earned a degree in civil engineering at Luštra in 7578. He saw combat at the Battle of Angrboða for which he was awarded the Blóð Ære and the Crisis Medal. Having served in both Austland and Cykeria he was awarded the Hagen-Dazs II and the Hel-vízkr Medal.

Functional Sequence

After the Battle of Angrboða, Ásgeirr returned to Ærilar to recover from a gunshot wound to the shoulder. He resigned his commission and worked briefly for the railroad before joining the western highway project as a surveyor. By 7612, he was the functional sequence manager of the western highway project. His enthusiastic application of the G-Faktor in selecting senior executives for the sequence garnered recognition and he was admitted to the Control Secretariat where he became a nationwide advocate for the adoption intelligence screening throughout the Technate.

Fører

Max Müller strongly opposed the wide-spread application of G-Faktor outside of the Styrkene. The resulting idealogical battle within the Control Secretariat pitted the credentialist vs the intellectualists. In 7617, Müller was pressured to allow a feasibility study. Under the insistence of Ásgeirr, members of the Control Secretariat, including the Fører himself were participants in the study. When the study results were presented it was revealed that Müller had performed poorly while Ásgeirr had outperformed every member of the Secretariat. As a result, Müller resigned in shame and Ásgeirr became the first Fører to be appointed by the Control Secretariat as a consequence of intellectual superiority.

As Fører, Ásgeirr used the G-Faktor to purge the Technate's leadership of academics and social scientists and replace them with intellectuals and engineers. Dwindling energy resources was the great challenge of his administration and large infrastructure projects dominated his agenda. The most ambitious of which were the twin dams on the Rikrinná and Forheksede which provided hydropower to Aedeland's two largest cities.
