Atregona, officially known as the Atregonese Aigentarate, is a nation in south and central Anaria. It is composed of two main regions separated by the Argirun Sea: the northern mainland Atregona and the southern Eccasian Archipelago. Atregona also includes additional territories such as the island of Laustro in the western Argirun, the tip of the Ashtem Peninsula, and colonies in Tzeraka and D'Runia. Atregona shares land borders with Sudety, Zelezmia and Meridolvenia among others.

Etymology

The name "Atregona" is thought to derive from the historical capital of the Indaric Empire, Atereguriko, which in Old Tragonic means "refuge we gen." This name also relates to the Tragoni ethnic group found in areas previously controlled by the Indaric Empire.

Geography and Climate

Atregona features a diverse geography, with its climate and biodiversity varying across its territories. Specific details on geography and climate were not provided in the text.

History

Main article: History of Atregona

Pre-History and Ancient History ( x - 3300)

The Eccasian Archipelago was inhabited by early hominids between 1.5 million years ago and as recently as 35,000 years ago. Modern humans are believed to have reached the region over 40,000 years ago, demonstrating advanced maritime skills. The Tragonic languages, which are unrelated to Kachal-Anarian languages, suggest that the Tragoni people or culture occupied central Anaria before the spread of Kachal-Anarian languages.

Erecund period (3309 - 6225)

In 3309 RH the religion of Erecund was created in the Atregona peninsula with the erection of the holy tablet of Erecund. This tablet was forced by a thunder striking a limestone tablet, encraving it with eight lines with rules. This religion spread south via Ekhijal sea to the Ekhixal islands. The religion spread into large part of the region causing the creation of the Indaric Empire an ancient Tragonic-speaking thalassocratic empire with Erecund at its center. This empire controlled the Ekhijal Sea and influenced the eastern, central, and southern Anarian seaboards through a network of client kingdoms. The Indaric Empire became a dominant force in Anaria but with expanse of the empire and the neighboring region following a different religions, religiois rival were created. Many kingdoms of Anaria were not welcoming the Tragoni and their religion so they headed north and land in Erapo on the island of Nester Mayor. Here it was welcomed and the kingdom of Erapo used the Erecund religion to create the Erinic Empire. The Indaric Empire helped the Erinic Empire establish a strong graps over the island. The Erinic Empire became a close ally of the Indaric Empire. After both the Indaric Empire and the Erinic Empire becomes dominant and stable powers, the Erecund golden age began and lasted from 4219 until 4823 RH.

The kingdoms bordering the Indaric Empire were getting more problematic, fueled by the difference in religion. The two empires fought many battles around the Ekhijal sea but when The Erinic Empire faced more internal struggles due to foreign religions and the grand plague of 4823 RH which also reached the Indaric Empire. The loss of life and stabilty caused the Erinic Empire to pull out of the Ekhijal to defend their home land from rebels and pirates. The withdraw of Erinic forces from the Ekhijal region, the Indaric Empire stood alone and they started losing increasing more wars. Because the plague of 4823 RH hit the Indaric Empire less hard, the Indaric Empire was more able to hold the empire mostly together even though they lost land mostly in the East and the South. When the Erinic Empire and the Indaric Empire had recovered from the plague of 4823 RH in 5001 RH, almost right after, a war with the Western broke out again. The Indaric Empire and the Erinic Empire fought together again to defend the homeland of land Erecund in the many religious wars but the war of 5264 RH, was very costly mostly for the warsupport of the Erinic Forces. The Erinic lords pressured the King of the Erinic Empire to pull Erinic Empire to weakend it grasp over the island.

By 5329 the Erinic Empire collapsed and the Indaric Empire lost its main ally. The Indaric Empire went on the defensive and focussed on trade instead. The Indaric Empire signed a non-agressionpact with most of its neighbours which meant the regional wars cooled down, at least the ones involving the Indaric Empire. This peacefull new are caused the creation of an Indaric Empire maritime trade focussed economy. The Indaric Empire opened up trading post on many coastlines they explored and bought from other, a few of these tradingpost were on the island of Nestor Mayor, helping the many lords who were fighting on the island to stay up to date.

In 6224 RH the Indaric Empire once again found itself in another brutal religious war by Meyistri tribes from the south and Cheltai and Karsk tribes from the north during the migration period. The entire Indaric Empire was falling apart without the Erinic Empire there to safe the Indaric Empire, the empire lost a lot of land and it lost many islands.

Rise of the Kingdom of Atregona (Atregonako Erreinua) (6225 - 7000)

The only regions that were not caputered by 6235 RH were the Atregonia peninsula and the Ekhixal islands but they were split into two new kingdoms, the Kingdom of Atregona and the Kingdom of Ekhixal. The two kingdoms stayed close allies and in 6288 RH they took back the Bakearen islands and the Urtzain island. The Kingdom of Atregona also managed to take back many of its northern lands including the valley of Eregon where the Erecund tablet were made. The unity among the Tragoni people from the fromer Indaric Empire started to weakend over time until the unitied Erecund treaty of 6274 RH broke in 6561 RH that led to take back the Bakearen islands and the Urtzain island. The hostility was caused by dissagreements about who owned what trade routes. In 6672 RH, a war broke out between the two kingdoms resulting in an Atregonan victory. The Kingdom of Atregona put a puppet king in charge of the Kingdom of Ekhixal and in 6732 RH, the Kingdom of Ekhixal was intergrated into the Kingdom of Atregona. With the intregration of Kingdom of Ekhixal, the nation bacame know Atregona (the same name as it is known today).

Government and Politics

Atregona is ruled by an Aigentar chosen through male-preference cognatic-primogeniture. The Aigentar, historically a supreme ruler, is advised by the high advisor (Goitanune) and the Central Council (Sinetsiak). Over time, a separation of powers developed, distributing authority among civil, religious, commercial, and military administrative bodies.

Reforms in the early 76th century by Aigentar Elorro significantly reduced the influence of these groups, leading to the establishment of the first Atregonese constitution in 7511 RH, which introduced a secular judicial system.

Administrative Divisions

Atregona is divided into forty banners, each governed by an appointed governor. These banners are further subdivided into 318 districts. The banners are grouped into nine regions, significant for cultural, judicial, and military purposes.

Culture

Atregonese culture reflects a blend of Tragoni, Meyistri, Ilista, and northern Anarian elements, with a strong Sadarisnism influence. Atregonese cuisine is cosmopolitan, integrating northern and southern Anarian flavors with influences from D'Runia, Tzeraka, and Tharna, heavily relying on exotic herbs and spices. Staple foods include wheat, eshialor (a pseudograin), and beans, while common proteins include fish, cephalopods, caprids, small canids, native fowls, and boar.

Demographics

Atregona has a population of 42,009,055 evenly divided between mainland Atregona and the Eccasian Islands. The nation is predominantly Sadarine, with small Orkanan and Naskel minorities.

Sadarisnism (Sadarinism) is the majority religion, with Orkanan and Naskel as minority religions.
