Demonym Kletudder

Kletudde is a coastal city and harbor town in the state of Kopparland, Vittmark, located on the Anarian island of Stoldavia's northern coast.

Etymology

The literal translation is "goo peninsula", indicating the very boggy and wet peninsula near which the city was founded in 7150 as part of the Greater Stoldavic Empire's effort to create a stronghold on the northern coast in a line of defence around Östervallen.

History

The city has always been in the border zone of influence between Liden, Ådalen and the Kulla-dominated capital of Östervallen. The city underwent rapid industrialisation in the 7520's when naval shipbuilding facilities were erected here. Until then, the town had mainly been a fishery port with some manufacturing and a smaller naval base with some repair facilities. After the Pan-Anarian War, Kletudde and surrounding lands became a neutral territory, which in 7574 was transformed into the member state of Kletudderland.

The city also became a port concession for Auresia as the final destination on the important north-south cargo line from the resource rich mountainous Sörmark region towards the coast. In 762X the status as port concession was ended, but Auresia still holds the right to a free port within the city limits.

In 7609 a state reform was carried out, where the states of Kram, Kletudderland and the city state of Kopparbruk merged into a new member state called Kopparland. Even though state institutions were meant to be spread out across the three former capitals, nowadays most of the state government administration is concentrated in Kopparbruk. This partially to compensate for the loss of jobs in the mining industry.
