The {{ref}} template formats a footnote, such as a citation, and links back to the footnote notation in an article. Although not required, it is usually used with the {{ref link}} template as the footnote link.
Usage

Parameters

Designator | String | Required | Footnote number or note designator; should match the designator in the reference or footnote |

Name | String | Required | The reference or footnote name to provide a link to the actual reference or footnote.\ |

Footnote text | String | Required | The text to display as the footnote. |
While noted as required, the template may not fail if any of the parameters are omitted, but it will not display properly and may not link properly.
