The president of Sokoku or Pemimpin in Bahasa Sokoku is the head of state of the parliamentary federation of Sokoku. The role of the head of state in this meritocratic, Mireist political system is mainly ceremonial on paper, but highly influentual in reality. The president is chosen by the federal parliament for his or her inspirational characteristics. He or she should stand above factions and etnicities, being a force that unites the people of Sokoku and motivate towards individual success as well as achieving progress for society as a whole. Accomplishments like political diplomacy or experience in government management are not so much sought after for the task of president, those are more suitable for the executive and legislative branches of government

Current president Ayaka Purnawati (Nelyasyat, 42) is a good example of how Sokoku fills the presidential role. Purnawati is an active singer-songwriter with an activist background. She started using her charismatic stage presence as an artist to raise public awareness for the degradation of coastal environments, socially and ecologically. As a surfer in her free time, she was able to reach out to fellow young citizens and became the figurehead of the coastal restoration movement in eastern Nelysasyat. Her motivational speeches combined with gripping songs were noted by regional politicians, who introduced her to the establishment in Kyusigai. There she was enabled to study politics at Suara University while continuing to perform as a solo artist. In the 15 years that followed, she was developing as one of the promising candidates to succeed Barak Torong.

As such, the presidential function clearly has its roots in the Kakuri leadership, which traditionally had a strong meritocratic character in the area of performing arts. Sokoku has managed to lift this type of function as storyteller, common social focal point and inspirational motivator towards the level of a multi-ethnic federation with over 100,000,000 people. As such, the president of Sokoku usually stands out between other heads of state, often having more in common with royalty.
