Pan Anarian, commonly known as Pan-An, is the flag carrier of Aedeland and its principal and largest international air carrier. Founded in 7483, it is recognized as the oldest air service in the world and is credited with numerous innovations that have shaped the international air transport industry. These innovations include the development of the first pressurized high-altitude airships, linear solenoid ballonets, dynamic lift designs, and gliding under gravity.

History

Pan Anarian was founded by early aviation pioneer Henrik av Balle who began regular air service using recently invented lighter-than-air aircraft to connect geographically divided northern and southern population centers in Aedeland.

In 7486, the company was awarded a contract through the Sørtarnland Company to provide regular air service between Antilancia and localles of company interests overseas. By 7494, regular non-stop service to Impport began. Pan-An played a crucial role in the evacuation of Impport in 7498 but was forced to suspend operations later that year due to the Pan-Anarian War. During the war, Pan-An lent its entire lighter-than-air fleet to the fledgling Aedelish Luftvåpen Valkyrja. By the conclusion of the war, every one of the company’s airships had been destroyed. Lacking the funds to rebuild its fleet, Pan-An faced insolvency at the close of the Pan-Anarian War but was purchased by the Sørtarnland Company in 7553. Pan-An returned in 7555 with a flagship fleet and expanded routes.

Pan-An was nationalized under the Aldsegian Technate in 7579 and entered into a period of decline which was exasperated by the international fuel crisis that began in the 7590s. Fuel conservation protocols greatly increased travel times and forced a reduction in route frequency and complete cancellation of less popular routes. The company operated at a loss of the duration of its nationalization.

Following the restoration of the Førers, Pan-An was restored to the Balles though it was slow to regain its former glory. Operating costs for its antique airships made profitability difficult. In the 7640s, Pan-An developed plans to utilize nuclear powered aircraft to cut operating expenses. However, studies found that many passengers had reservations about safety. In 7672, Pan-An unveiled their flagship supersonic nuclear airliner based on the "Atgeir" called the "Skyndastjarna" which helped return the company to more a better financial position. As the company returns to profitability, it has announced plans to update its airship fleet with nuclear powered designs.

Structure and Organization

Pan-An's headquarters are located in Aerilar with offices in Impport near the former Sørtarnland offices.

Airships

Pan-An Skyliner

Pan-An's long-range skyliners represent the pinnacle of lighter-than-air travel, offering services and amenities comparable to luxury ocean liners. The skyliner can carry less fuel due to the shorter premier routes, which allows for more investment in passenger comfort.

  • Features include climate-controlled and pressurized cabins, private staterooms, a formal dining saloon, bar, reading room, game room, and observation deck.
  • Stratoliner-Class: First introduced in 7571, each is 1,000 feet in length and 170 feet in diameter with eight tractor propellers, allowing for speeds up to 100 miles per hour and altitudes exceeding 25,000 feet.

Pan-An Skyclipper

Short-range skyclippers are designed for speed and economy.

  • Passengers travel in an unpressurized gondola lounge offering 360-degree views and a full-service bar.
  • The Windjammer-Class Skyclipper, introduced in 7569, measures 700 feet in length and 100 feet in diameter with eight tractor propellers, allowing speeds over 100 miles per hour.

Aircraft

Pan-An Skyliner II

Since 7672 the "Skyndastjarna" supersonic nuclear airliner has been the flagship vessel of the pan-an fleet. Capable of sustained speeds in excess of Mach 1 at very high altitudes and boasting unlimited range, the Skyliner II is recognized as the gold standard in luxury transportation.
