How to tell if you're a Nestorian
- Your community is your main source of social support, this community is your family home and you street (between 50 and 150 people). They cook for you, offer you work experience and take care of the young and the elderly.
- You offer housing and food for the ones without a community and you give them a chance to intergrate. People who don't respect the community can be banished and they have to prove their worth.
- You can have a business if you are part of a community but you pay a contribution to your community (a small payment to pay for the communal restaurant for example). If your company gets too large for the community, you leave community but in a postive way.
- If you are man, you respect woman. If you are woman, you apprieciate men. If you are child, you honor your elders. If you are elder, you teach the previous generation.
- You work seven 8-hour-days, one 4-hour-day and you are free for three days a week. Making a full workweek 60 hours. The half day can be any of the remaining four days including the 11th day. One the 11th day of the week you visit the Erecund temple to pay respect to the dead and you do other religious duties. Each community has one temple to come together in and each community does the religious duties slightly differently.
- You wake up just after sunrise (6:30) and go to sleep before midnight (22:30) with an average of 8 hours of nights rest.
- If you are a man, you likely spend your free time with friends working for patrol (this includes (combat) training), play games like Smilon Wurrar, drinking and socializing or do projects together (music, making minatures, making ''BoyArts'', freerunning) and take care of your children. And if you are above 50, you likely read, play boardgames and help with taking care of the children.
- If you are a woman, you likely spend your time at home taking care of the children of the community, drinking with the girls at cafés (probably gossiping), being creative (singing, drawing, dancing, nitting or making jewelry), playing boardgames with the men, and cooking for community. (Taking care is seen as a job which the government pays for. If any parent work half time on a job and half time taking care of the kids, they will get 75% of a full paying job.)
- You eat a decent amount of meat, eggs and grain based food (like pasta). You love slipperly food with good texture, the food is often blunt but it has good texture. You drink a lot of milk and milk types juices, and you like fruite juices and you drink no alcohol. You don't eat desserts, you just take a nice glass of pure fruit juice.
- As a man, you find Nestorian woman very picky but big hearted (sometimes too much). After the age 19, woman are at their most picky, meaning if you have a young partner, you are seen as a good man. In order to make a woman interested in you as a man, you need to show of you got stable home. This proces of making a stable and attractive version is called Nest building which is partially where the name ''Nestor'' comes from. Woman approach men who they believe to have made a suffient ''Nest'' and men do the same towards woman who they think they will accept their effort. The older the woman get, the ''cheaper'' they get until the age of 30 on which point they will accept any man who is willing to have relation, woman above 35 are considered ''leftovers''.
- As a person, you must respect all people's boundries. Hurting a defenseless person can get you in a lot of trouble, patrol will attack and arrest you and if you did something particular bad, you will get a ''punishment on the spot'' (this includes being shot or stabbed before the official police arrive (some criminals have been killed in brutal ways).
- Your children and your community are very important to you. Often families have two sets of two children with not too many at ones to makes sure each child can get enough attention. If you can't provide for four children, you are expected to raise at least two children (most common is 3 and 4). As a parent, even though you will love your children, you only give them what they need, not what they want. Good deeds are prized with things they want and bad deeds are punished but they minium is never broken.
You are Nestorian if you...
- You are quiet in your speech and don't raise your voice
- You use sign language in combination of spoken language for clearer communication in loud placs (instead of raising the voice). Silence is a sign repect, wisdom and thoughtfulness. Speaking too much or too loudly might be frowned upon.
- You are reserved and introspective. You prefer quiet contemplation over large and active social interaction, often thinking deeply before speaking.
- You are socially cautious due to resepct to personal space, you are more an observer than someone you acts quickly.
- You have a higher change of being shy or having social anciety stemming from a history of being isolated from other cultures (Isolationism since 7590s for a thousand years).
- You have strong emphasis to being polite and formal behavior which means there are more mild and less spontaneous social interactions (making friends can be hard for foreigners)
- You do not interrupt others while they are talking
Everybody knows that…
- ... it's better to fight until everyone is dead then to let our island become conquered, ''better dead than dread''. The landforce is the most important part of our land and dying for the homeland is the most honorable action a person can make. Nestor is a place to invaded for its people, not its land and people will never bow down to anyone but to the spirits of the dead we swear to protect.
- ... Orderists are plunderers on the Nestorian way of life. The Hellish people themselves aren’t bad, but they are misguided and exploited, the leaders free themselves but enslave the people, the ones that dread will lose control. Humans are not cogs in machine!
- … the Hellish and the Orderist Commonwealth are fundamentally our enemy, and have been over a hundred years. The Orderist Commonwealth will not stop attacking us until Nestor is defeated.
- ... if you don't interfere with our way of life, we will not interfere with yours. We might not like what you are doing to your people but what is yours is yours and what is mine is mine.
- ... Cassia is a import economical and military ally of Nestor. Cassian mines, Nestorian factories and our militaries keep the Orderists adversaries at bay.
- ... Livaria is our most powerful ally, are anti-Orderists and their navy is welcome in our waters. We work tgether on space and science and many other projects, even though we are strange to them, we have common goals and have a mutual respect.
- ... Wolgos are a strange bunch of humans and they have broken our terms multiple times. We have fought against them in many wars however, their first war woke up our military which was necessary to fight the bigger threat decades later. The second war boosted our economy which Nestor still benifits from today. Even though Nestor has benifited from the wars, the Wolgos still killed many thousands of our men which we remember.
- ... Arvorians are good business people for technology and even though we are not allies, they have what we want and we have what they want. The National Socialists party likes Arvor for being socialists there are still plenty of disagreements between them.
- ... Atregonia is a historical ally and also a follower of a version of Erecund which makes Nestor and Atregonia natural allies. The Atregonian is Nestorian oldest ally and they have been the gateway to Anaria for centuries during the area of isolation of Nestor. The economic state of Atregonia is less that of Nestor but Nestor help Atregonia growing by investing into the Atregonian economy. The economic, religion and military alliance essentially makes Atregonia Nestor's sister country (a quite different at that).
- ... same-sex relationships (marriage and sex), prostitutions, weed, premarital sex, alcohol and other unholy deeds but allowed as long as if they are done on the island of Treön, Nider. Same-sex relationships are alllowed everywhere in Nestor but many tribal communities see it as unholy and the same-sex actions has been to be done behind closed doors. No fear for the LGBTQ+ community, there are tribal homes that welcome these people with open arms however entry is 18+.
- ... in international relations, the Nestorians are often perceived as mysterious or difficult to read, which could either be an advantage or a challenge, depending on the situation.
