Early life
TBA
Crown Prince of Vittmark
When Prince Eilert turned 21, he was appointed as Crown Prince and as such the first in the line of succession. He took over from his uncle Prince Kolgard, Queen Iduna's younger brother, when it became clear that Eilert's older sister Nilla was not interested in taking up the task. Crown Prince Eilert became a very eligible bachelor, a position that he enjoyed thoroughly. In the 7620's and '30's was quite the ladies' man with many relations and affairs. He showed a particular interest in women from mainland Anaria, like his affairs with Auresian film star Axia Martinus and Anisoran photo model Gellia Marone clearly show, but he was also involved with the Sokokan ambassador Lestari Patawala. Other known relations include the Hallish countess Mildred Shipton, Livarian former cyclist Marca Sivchenka and the Vittmarker news anchor Sara Kårehamn as well as his lawyer Ylva Stenbräck.
He was more or less forced by his mother to marry before she would abdicate. He proposed to Sofia Södersten, originally part of his security arrangement. Sofia Södersten has her roots into the noble Av Hagen family, former royalty of the predecessor state of Hagen. The couple got a child, Princess Iduna jr, in 7640 upon which Queen Iduna abdicated in 7641 when she turned 70 years old.
King of Vittmark
Even before he was crowned officially, King Eilert appointed his distant uncle Rudin av Blåkulla, youngest son of Queen Tovemor as crown prince, despite him being 15 years older. In 7657, when Prince Rudin turned 70, Eilert's younger sister Annika (born 7611) became crown princess in order to give Eilert's children more time to decide if he wanted to become the monarch.
Under King Eilert, Vittmark became a leading economy on Gotha. He functioned as minister in the executive in many of the Vittmarker cabinets, not because he was entitled this role due to his role as monarch, but since his knowledge and skills in international trade and economic innovation were appreciated. Between 76XX and 76XX he even functioned as prime minister in a technocratic, non-partisan executive government. Whenever he was part of the executive cabinet, the monarch constitutional role as head of federal parliament was taken over by a person chosen by members of parliament themselves. Even though his political role was quite proactive and he could be seen as an absolutist in many ways, the majority of the Vittmarker people appreciated his active commitment to state affairs.
In 7575 King Eilert withdrew from active politics, only to appear at ceremonial occasions like the opening of the parliamentary year or when he formally appointed new cabinet members. He also started giving more speeches reflecting on Vittmark's development, at home and abroad, trying to spread the knowledge and experience he had gathered to a new generation of economists and political leaders. During those years he tried to keep a distance from contemporary politics. Even though his health started to deteriorate in 7682, he had no intention to abdicate and make way for his successor. That only happened in 7688 on his death bed. Three weeks later he died in his sleep before Crown Prince Asgard had been crowned.
