Points of Interest

Cherenovsk is home to several points of interest which have made it well-known, not just across the republic or D'Runia, but worldwide.

Antonov Gardens

The Antonov Gardens (Антонов сад) also known as the National Botanical Gardens (Национальный ботанический сад, Нбс or NBS) are the largest park and greenspace in the capital city, located in its western districts. Near the heart of the Gardens, surrounded by a ring of pathways and fountains, are the hot houses, where more exotic flowers and plants are maintained year-round. Known for their lush greenery, extensive and well-maintained flower beds and decoratively sculpted shrubbery displays, the NBS is a hub of outdoors and social activity.

The presidential residence, Avilov House, sits at the northern end of the gardens, on a hill overlooking them, and stands at the western end of the Grand Avenue of the Republic. The Monument of the Eternal Flame (Памятник Вечному огню), dedicated to every Arvorian who has died in service to their nation in wartime, sits at the eastern end of the gardens.

Constitution Square

Friendship of Peoples Park

Located in the east-central section of the city due south of the VDNH, the third-largest park in the city (after the Aleksandr Gardens and the VDNH) is a large, open-air greenspace noted for its low rolling hills, extensive trees and meticulously maintained flowers and shrubbery. The park contains over five kilometres of walking paths, along which one can find vendors selling snacks and beverages. The park is dotted by numerous statues celebrating important moments in the nation's relationship with the international community. One of the most prominent of these is a statue of Dynast Emperor Cephero IV of Auresia shaking hands with President Valentin Kolesnikov, commemorating the monarch's state visit in 7577 RH, noteworthy as the first official visit to the new nation by a foreign head of state.

Grand Avenue of the Republic

The Grand Avenue of the Republic (Большой проспект Республики) forms an east-west axis through the centre of the city, which turns into a great ring running around the Palace of Congresses (Дворец Конгрессов) and Plaza of the Founders (Площадь Основателей) which stand at the precise centre of the city. At its western end is Avilov House, the presidential residence which sits atop Varlamov Hill, and the Antonov Gardens while at its eastern end is the VDNH and Friendship of Peoples Park. The avenue is known for its wide, open design and the Arvorian flags flying from every lamppost. The entire avenue is lined by trees and (as of 1.1.7690 RH) 103 statues honouring various figures from Arvorian history ranging from military leaders to successful scientists and engineers to poets, artists, and social activists. To have a statue raised on the Avenue is one of the greatest honours the nation can bestow on a citizen.

GUM

The Main Universal Store (Главный универсальный магазин, Гум or GUM) is the largest shopping centre in the city and the oldest and largest such facility in the nation. Established in 7533 RH, during the Commonwealth days, it started out as a trading exchange for merchants to sell their wares in a common location accessible to everyone around. As time went on, many shoppes became permanently established as the complex grew into what it is now. By 7600 RH, GUMs modeled after the one in the capital had been established in all of the major cities nationwide. As of 1.1.7690 RH, GUM encompasses 91 separate shoppes, 16 restaurants, and five coffee shoppes. It is a popular shopping destination for locals as well as tourists.

VDNH

The Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy (Выставка достижений народного хозяйства) is a permanent general purpose trade show and amusement park covering an area of 2.5 million square metres, of which 375,000 square metres is used for indoor exhibits. It is located in the eastern section of the city, at that end of the Grand Avenue of the Republic. The grounds encompass numerous pavilions, each dedicated to a different area of commercial, economic, or industrial interest. These include the pavilions for agriculture, atomic energy, aviation, communications, culture, education, engineering, heavy industry, light industry, oceanography and marine biology, radioelectronics, space research and exploration, and transport.
