====== Mirei ====== //Not to be confused with Chika Mirei.// **Mirei** is the smallest member state of Sokoku, both in area and population. It can be seen as the continuation of Fisks Handelshus Nybyggen, a former member state of Vittmark, including the former Eastern Crown Domains as federal territory to safeguard the living space of the Kakuri people. ===== History ===== A makeshift cooperation between the Kakuri and the local government of the Fisks islands off the southern Altaian coast started in 7XXX when The Bind suddenly occupied the northern islands under management by Fisks. This meant that both Vittmarker member states became isolated from the rest of Vittmark, since the air corridor no longer was functional and most sea straits were closed by häverist forces in conflict with Vittmark. The first joined leadership //Nitoni //was formed by two duo's representing both population groups. Astrid and Martin Fisks, two distant cousins replaced the traditional Fisks leadership by the brothers Arild and Anton Fisks, both descendants from the founder of the Fisks settlement of Carls Nybygge on the island of Gilles Carls. On the Kakuri side, the Nokumo Nobono was represented by Koyubi and Kirisaki. The main priority was to avoid an invasion by häverist forces from nearby Schangtienrand. Fisks faced the main challenge that it had lost all of its production facilities in the north, upon which their merchant fleet became redundant. Kirisaki proposed to find replacement capacity in just Shangtienrand and use the weaponized merchant fleet as a tool to tip the balance in the ongoing civil war between the häverist colonisers from Helreich and the native population of Schangtienrand. After the liberation of Schangtienrand, a joint government was formed. This put the status of Fisks' remaining islands in doubt. The local population of Izto, Kakuri and Dölmer descent had very little in common with the main ethnicity on Shuuen. The islands retained their autonomous status until Bowersland also was liberated. At that time the decision was made to form a federative republic with three different member states. The Fisks-Kakuri cooperation entered under a complicated double-double name: //Fisks och Kakuri / Kakuri to Hisukusu, //but often abbreviated to //Fika.// The word //fika //lives on in the Kakuri languages, Wortsproke and Bahaso to indicate an informal pause with a beverage and light snack, where everything can be discussed as long as it remains informal and unofficial. These types of gathering proved pivotal for the success of the unlikely cooperation. In 7675, five years after the death of Chika Mirei, the member state changed its name to Mirei as a tribute to the half Kakuri half Vittmarker philosopher and leader that helped lay out the blueprint of Sokoku's government and economical system.
