Ekusu (pronounced eksu or eks, spelled えくす in Bahasa Sokoku) is a domestic car manufacturer in Sokoku, located in Berewan, Shuuen. The only model it is producing is a two-seater mid-engine flatbed pick-up truck called Ekusu 19 with a chassis based on the previous version of the Anisoran Auto ESE 28. The engine however is an Arvorian AAZ-211 with 1298 cc producing 55 kW, an extremely powerful engine for a car that only weighs 780 kgs in its standard production version.
Due to the unusual engine lay-out, the car has a small cargo compartment in the front, topped by a small cargo bed for low loads not exceeding 30 cm in height and a larger flatbed in the back, large enough for a standard cargo pellet. The production version is only 126 cm high, which made it possible to convert the car for transporting cargo containers on trailers (KeLa18 according to the Sokokan categories of motorised vehicles) on short distances, if the suspension is adapted for this type of use. Versions with cargo fences, canvas covers and compound hardtops are also manufactured as standard models, usually of to a height of about 157 cm.
The power-to-weight ratio for this light vehicle, enabeling a larger cargo capacity, has made the standard version attractive as an unsuspected sports car. As such, it is exported to Anaria and Arvor in small numers, where it is customized with a lower suspension set-up and more aerodynamic front body parts. With these modifications, the Ekusu 19 can easily reach speeds up to 170 kph.
The company has its roots in the metalworks and automotive sector of Berewan since the 7640's, manufacturing trailer chassis and car parts. The Karyalogam family developed the family company into this direction during the Second Coalition War, when automotive parts and trailers became more aftersought. Ekusu started making the platform for the local taxi company in 7668, but production halted when the Maju Daratan Besan was launched in 7674. With the newly acquired knowledge, the Karyalogam family developed a light two seater multipurpose vehicle in a passenger car lay-out. The city of Berewan provided them with a license to produce in order to secure employment for the company suppliers in the production chain.
Each year, between 14,500 and 19,500 cars are produced, or an average around 40 per day. In total, the company employs 950 people in different units, of which 100 directly at the assembly line. A further 550 employees work in sales and aftersales through Ekusu dealerships across the country.
