Background

In the preceding century, the monarchies of Anaria had aligned and intermarried, creating a delicate network of kinship alliances. Particularly dominant among Anaria's ruling families were the Dynast Sovereign of Auresia, Willem II, and the Emperor of the ailing Stoldavic Empire, Francis Varen-Mu8c3b6re. Willem II was connected to the monarchies of Anisora, Penryn, and Liden through his cousins Bastian, Regent of Amberia, and several leading families in Aedeland. Francis held connections to the former constituents of the Greater_Stoldavic_Empire, including Kaiser Frederick Su8c3a4vert III of Helreich, King Steinar of Hagen, Jarl U8c3a5dahl of U8c3a5dalen, King Vilhelm of Liden, and Ingrid of Aedeland.

As a result of the Tandem Wars between Helland and Livaria, Livaria and Aurasia gained control over the major straits of Anaria. In contrast, Helland bore great devastation that ultimately inspired the Decemberist Revolution in 7473. During the decades of uneasy peace following the Tandem Wars, Auresian and Livarian colonisation flourished with little interference. At the same time, Haeverism (now more commonly named Helreich) experienced decades of reconstruction and adaptation to its new government. In these years, Helreich experienced an age of ambition and intellectualism, aggressively building up their economy and military to pre-war levels.

Livarian and Auresian control of the Eastern Anarian straits greatly upset the balance of power in favour of Livaria and Auresia. Their naval dominance challenged Anisora's naval control of the Medio Sea. Furthermore, the Livarian-Auresian presence in the Eastern Medio further reinforced Auresia's control of the Scavic Peninsular and was viewed as a threat to the continued survival of the Nexis government of Zelezmia. Concurrently, Livaria returned to its quiet annexation of Hayrand from Anat Tahan, which had begun in 7451 following the Great Tharnian War. Concerned by Helreich's recovery and the increasing possibility of conflict with Anisora and Zelezmia, Auresia and Livaria shifted their resources to strengthening their military capabilities. In response, Helreich established an alliance with other Du8c3b6lmer peoples of the former Stoldavic Empire, like the Haeverist puppet-state of Republic of Tauberg and the colonies of New Hapsburg and New Su8c3bcdentor, creating the United League in 7495. Zelezmia and Anat Tahan joined the United League the subsequent year.

Pre-War Events

The tangled web of alliances that determined access to the critical Anarian straits became increasingly burdensome through the 7490s. Immediately after the Tandem War, Auresia began to strategically starve Helreich of coal. As a countermove, Helreich equipped the Reichsmarine with superior naval vessels powered by oil sourced from Anat Tahan, making access to the Sinian Sea essential for Hoffnung's long-term naval capability. Although Aedeland's control of the Straits of Andlu8c3a1t and Zeeu8c3abngten made northern access unreliable, the disputed control of the Western Straits among Auresia and Anisora allowed Helreich unchallenged access to Anat Tahan. Auresia and Livaria began to convert their navies to oil in 7479 but remained uninformed about the extent of Helreich's military build-up. By 7492, Helreich, Livaria, and Auresia were engaged in a zealous arms race. Tensions and the Initial Conflict

In the wake of Anat Tahan joining the United League in 7496, oil supply to Livaria and Auresia was abruptly severed. Consequently, Auresia and Livaria were compelled to undergo extensive and costly retrofits for their state-of-the-art warships. Auresia's response was aggressive, targeting Helriech supply ships transporting oil via the Hattaro Straits. Willem II dismissed the complaints from Helriech and Anisora and insisted that Auresia uphold the neutrality of the Medio and the Hattaro Straits' independence. However, tensions escalated in late March 7498 when the Reichsmarine began escorting supply ships through the Hattaro Straits. Citing compromised neutrality and breaches of the Treaty of Ostburg, Willem II initiated a blockade on all Hellish vessels in the Hattaro Straits on April 6th. The United League's immediate retaliation was a declaration of war against Auresia. The alliance web entangled further when Auresia's allies, Livaria and Aedeland, declared war on the United League.

Medio Campaign

Both belligerents in the conflict justified their actions under the premise of upholding the Medio's neutrality. The blockade's proclamation saw a swift mobilization of oil tankers to fortify the strategic oil reserves. Initial skirmishes between the Hellish oil ships and the Imperial Transit Militia were minor. Yet, Auresia requested assistance for the blockade, leading to the catastrophic engagement between the Su8c3b8rland and the Hellish tanker, which resulted in the Su8c3b8rland's sinking. The misjudgment of the rebuilt Reichsmarine's capabilities by the Allied powers set a chaotic scene of fleets racing from distant ports. The consequential Battle of Impport saw the Hellish force, leveraging their numerical and tactical advantage, effectively crippling the Auresian defense. By April 14th, the Grand Fortress succumbed, making way for a protracted urban war that would last 23 years in Impport, resulting in heavy Auresian casualties.

First Battle of the Soll

The fall of the Grand Fortress, a symbol of unyielding defense, was a staggering blow to the Alliance. However, hope lingered. Having assimilated the lessons from the Tandem Wars, Livaria had maintained a portion of the White Fleet in reserve, with the battleship Daudeiu8c3bea being among the most advanced. Intent on aiding their allies, the Livarians sought to sever the Hellish supply route to the Hattaro. Nonetheless, battle ensued on May 15th, with the Livarian fleet confronting the Reichsmarine in the western Soll. Employing the innovation of airships for strategic advantage, the Hellish fleet forced the Livarians to remain out of effective range, leading to their eventual retreat. The White Fleet subsequently stationed itself in the U8c3a6r Strait, aiming to maintain communication lines between Helreich and Auresia. Hellish Control Over the Soll Hellish control of the Soll would not be seriously challenged for another year, not until the third battle of the Soll. And within that time, Anat Tahan petroleum continued to flow to Helreich and its allies.

Seige of Oseidon

By mid-June, the Hellish invasion force had gained control of Impport and began its Auresian campaign with a siege of Oseidon. This culminated in a battle between Auresian and Hellish forces that saw two entire districts of the city laid waste when the arrival of heavy artillery and airship reinforcements from Central Auresia and Livaria turned the city into an urban warzone. It would be almost nineteen years of constant street-to-street fighting before the Hellish offensive efforts were crushed. Advances and withdrawals were measured in city blocks and streets gained, and little else. By the time Oseidon was finally liberated from Hellish forces, it is said that only three out of every 10 buildings in the city were still standing, and some two-thirds of the city's population was killed in the fighting.

Stalemate in the Medio Campaign & Retreat from the Medio

By 7521RH, Hellish forces were forced to leave with the coming collapse of their supply chain from the Hellish homeland. Even though the Hellish navy followed an aggressive and effective campaign to destroy as many naval forces and ports of both Auresia and Livaria, both Auresia and Livarian naval forces were able to rebuild their naval forces in the relative safety of out-of-reach colonies such as New Livaria. The Ashgaet alliance also was able to purchase many smaller naval vessels from neutral powers in Southern Anaria. To add to this coming threat, Anisora left the United League in favor of becoming a neutral power and eventually allying with the Ashgaet alliance. The United League, forced to confront the changing circumstances of the war, decided to enact a large-scale evacuation of Auresia. The battle on the ground was deteriorating over the past decade, leading to the deaths of millions of Hellish soldiers on the Medio front. With the loss of Anisora's help in protecting Anat Tahan petroleum, the front and cause was considered lost. The evacuation took place over a period of months, a time period where Auresia increased its offensives against Hellish lines and was considered an overall success as the navy was able to successfully fight off Aldsegian raiders with only relatively minor losses.

Aldsegian Involvement

See Aldsegian Expeditionary Force Order of Battle 7498

It took Aedeland nearly three months from the declaration of war following the sinking of the Su8c3b8rland to mobilize its expeditionary army. Two corps with a total of 56,000 men were sent to Livaria, where they joined the Livarian forces preparing for an amphibious assault on Haeverist-occupied Auresia. Aedelish units were involved in almost every major battle of the Auresian campaign. The Aedelish navy was ill-equipped to engage the navies of the United League. Most of the Medio campaign was fought by the Auresian and Livarian navies as a result. However, the Aedelish navy was active in both the Sinian and the Stolvic, conducting raids and opportunistic strikes.

Wolgos Involvement

The Wolgos entered into the Pan-Anarian within four years of the war starting as a scavenging force on the side of Helreich to take advantage of weakened states. At first, providing resources for Helreich’s war effort but subsequently deploying forces to areas they considered easy picking. The Wolgos fought well but mercilessly, often wiping out civilians or enslaving them, and their increasingly repugnant atrocities in the battlefield made the Wolgos Knights often more valuable as a psychological weapon when adding their Hellish allies. As the war continued, the Wolgos Empire overextended, and pressures from both their colonial expansion and home hardships weakened the monastic rule. The Hellish state turned on the Wolgos with the excuse that such people cannot live amongst civilized Anarians. The Wolgos Empire at this time was a minor power compared to Helreich and was soon overrun by the Hellish forces. The Hellish-Wolgos conflict, as part of the Pan-Anarian war, constituted a genocide by the Haeverist but it’s usually seen as justified.

Einhafish Civil War

The second civil war, Einhafish Civil War, broke out in the Kingdom of Einhafan and Iseldir in spring 7527. Although for the most part fought between internal monarchist and republican forces, certain foreign powers were involved and had some influence on the outcome of the war. The war ended in August 7543 with victory for the republican rebels and the foundation of a republic, the Penryn Union of Glyndroweth.
