Gotha Contribution and Ownership Policy

Gotha is a collaborative worldbuilding project intended as a not-for-profit endeavor, developed and maintained by its contributors and admins. The following policy ensures that the project remains in the collective hands of its community while safeguarding individual contributions and the project’s continuity.

  • 1. Ownership of Contributions
  • 1.1 - Ownership of Contributions:

Contributors retain ownership of their individual contributions to Gotha. By contributing, they grant Gotha a perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive license to use, adapt, and integrate their contributions into the project.

  • 1.2 - Irrevocability of Contributions:**

Contributions to Gotha are permanent. Once submitted, the license cannot be revoked or rescinded by any contributor or the admins. This ensures the continuity and integrity of the project.

  • 1.3 - Use of Individual Contributions:**

Contributors may continue to use their own individual contributions outside Gotha, even after leaving the project. However:

Shared or collaborative content (e.g., joint lore, integrated worldbuilding elements) may not be reused without explicit permission from the admins. Gotha’s name, branding, and associated materials may not be used without explicit permission from the admins.

  • 1.4 - Use of Gotha’s Name and Materials:

No individual or external entity may use Gotha’s name, branding, or associated materials (including shared or collaborative content) for commercial or personal purposes without explicit permission from the admins.

  • 2. Project Ownership and Administration

The overall project, including its continuity and development, is held in trust by the admins on behalf of all contributors. No individual contributor or group may claim sole ownership of the project or withdraw substantial portions of it, as Gotha is a collaborative effort.

  • 3. Derivative Works and Profit

If the Gotha community decides to create a for-profit derivative work (e.g., a book or other commercial project), contributors may participate in profit-sharing based on their level of involvement, as determined by the admins. The admins will maintain a transparent system to attribute contributions and ensure fair distribution of any profits.

  • 4. Protections Against Misappropriation

No external individual or external entity may use Gotha’s name, content, or associated materials for commercial purposes without explicit permission from the admins.

  • 5. Dispute Resolution

Disputes regarding attribution, contribution removal, or profit-sharing will be mediated by the admins.

  • 6. Amendments to the Policy

This policy may be updated with notice to contributors. Significant changes require community input and approval to ensure fairness.

Final Section: Agreement to the Policy

By continuing to participate in the Gotha project or remaining a member of this Discord channel, contributors agree to the terms outlined in this policy. If you have questions or concerns, please communicate them.

The current admins, acting as stewards for the Gotha project, are: @Wol, @Drax and @Octavious. (as per the discord server)

Acknowledgment: Please confirm your agreement to this policy by adding a thumbs-up reaction to this post or explicitly stating your consent (on the discord thread called "legal"). Silent participation will be considered tacit agreement to the terms.
